We would love for you to volunteer and help our team bring this amazing event to life!
You may be studying event management or fundraising, or you might know someone who is doing the walk. Maybe you’re an RMHC Sydney supporter, have a connection to our House, or keen to contribute without doing the walk. Whatever your reason, volunteering for Walk Me Home will be a fun, rewarding experience and the event can’t run without your support.
We need over 100 volunteers to help us put together this amazing event. Most volunteer shifts are a maximum of four hours and in return for helping us out, we will provide you with a t-shirt to keep. You will also receive the following benefits:
- A letter of appreciation outlining job roles and participation as a volunteer at Walk Me Home
- Firsthand experience of the operational aspects of being onsite at a live event
- Association with one of Australia’s most well-known charity brands
- Free public transport on the day of the event
VOLUNTEER ROLES ON THE DAY
Start Line (Lyne Park) 6am – 10am
Course Guides (Various locations) 7am – 5pm
Finish Line (Randwick) 8.00am – 5.00pm
Start line (Lyne Park) 6am – 10am
- Registration/Set up
- Assist in registration area set up
- Provide support for registration desk staff
- Help staff hand out welcome packs to participants
- Crowd management and control
- Assist in pack up at the end of the day
- Assistant /Crowd Control
- Crowd management and control
- Assist participants in getting to the start line on time in their correct groups
- Answer participant questions regarding the event
- Ensure crowd is orderly to ensure quick and efficient starts
Course guides (Various locations) 7am – 5pm:

- Assist staff in placing signage at key points along the course
- Be stationed at key points along the course to assist participants and ensure they stay on the right track
FINISH LINE (RANDWICK) 8am - 5pm:
- Set up 8am - 12pm
- Assist staff in setting up and decorating the House party area
- Make sure area is clean and tidy for participant arrival
- Welcome Party (various times)
- Cheer particpants across the finish line
- Hand out drinks
- Assist with VIP area
- Help keep the site clean
Please note we will do our best to roster you where you have advised however some roles may fill up faster than others.
